Related reference Getting help NIC indicator codes Each NIC on the back panel has an indicator that provides information about the network activity and link status. The activity LED indicates whether the NIC is currently connected or not. The link LED indicates the speed of the connected network. 1. link indicator 2. activity indicator Table 5. NIC indicators Convention A B Status Link and activity indicators are off Link indicator is green C Link indicator is orange D Activity indicator is flashing yellow Condition The NIC is not connected to the network. The NIC is connected to a valid network at 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps port speed. The NIC is connected to a valid network at its maximum port speed (1 Gbps or 10 Gbps). The NIC is connected to a valid network at 1000 Mbps port speed. Network data is being sent or received. Power on LED indicator codes The Power on indicator button has a dual color Light Emitting Diode (LED) that is on the front panel of the system. This indicator functions as a system diagnostic LED. NOTE: The diagnostic LED is active and visible only during the POST process. Once the operating system starts to load, it is no longer visible. Amber LED blinking scheme - The pattern is 2 or 3 blinks followed by a short pause then x number of blinks up to 7. The repeated pattern has a long pause inserted in the middle. For example 2, 4 = 2 amber blinks followed by a short pause, and then 4 amber blinks followed by long pause. Then, the pattern is repeated. Table 6.
