EPSON Stylus Pro 3800/3800C/3850 5.3.12 Install F/W The firmware of the printer is stored in the Flash ROM on the main board. Whenever the main board is replaced, or when updating the firmware is required, write the firmware into the Flash ROM following the procedure below. C A U T IO N If the printer is turned ON for the first time after the firmware is uploaded on the newly mounted main board which does not have any parameters at all, the printer automatically performs the initial ink charge. When the initial ink charge is not necessary, be sure to carry out settings referring to "5.3.5 Initial Ink Charge Flag ON/ OFF" (Page 211). Turn both the printer and computer OFF and connect them with a USB cable. 2. Turn the computer ON. 3. Turn the printer ON while holding down the Menu/Right + Back/Left + Ink Cover Open/UP + Paper Feed/Down buttons on the printer's operation panel to start the printer in the F/W update mode. 4. Start the Firmware Update Tool. 5. Select the port and the firmware file (UPG format). 6. Click [Send] to transfer the firmware data. 7. When the transferring is completed, "Complete" pop-up window will be displayed. Click [OK]. 8. When writing the firmware is completed, the printer automatically reboots. Revision A Figure 5-56.
