Cleaning the Printer Cleaning inside the printer Fine particles of paper dust and ordinary dust can collect inside the printer. Follow the steps below to clean the inside of the printer: 1. Make sure the printer is turned off. 2. Open the front cover. 3. Raise the printer's top cover to the upper position, as shown below. WARNING: Opening the printer exposes the fuser, which is marked by a caution label. If the printer has been on, the fuser may be hot; be careful not to touch it. Let the printer cool before you clean the inside. 4. Remove the imaging cartridge from the printer. Maintenance and Transportation 5-17
