printer mode A set of operating commands that determines how data sent from the computer is interpreted and acted upon. Printer modes can emulate existing printers. proportional spacing Printing in which character width varies from character to character. For example, a capital W receives much more space than a lowercase i. The result looks more like a typeset book than a typewritten draft. RAM Random Access Memory.
