7. Remove the optical drive bracket (2). Reverse this procedure to reassemble and install an optical drive. Upgrade bay device Description Upgrade bay device cradle Spare part number 502322-001 Before removing the upgrade bay device, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 44). Remove the upgrade bay device: 1. Position the computer with the front toward you. 2. Loosen the Phillips PM2.5×9.0 captive screw (1) that secures the upgrade bay device to the computer. 3. Remove the four Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws (2) that secure the upgrade bay device to the computer. 4. Insert a flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool into the upgrade bay device tab access (3) and press the tab to the left to release the upgrade bay device from the computer. Before removing the upgrade bay device, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
44
).
Remove the upgrade bay device:
1.
Position the computer with the front toward you.
2.
Loosen the Phillips PM2.5×9.0 captive screw
(1)
that secures the upgrade bay device to the
computer.
3.
Remove the four Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws
(2)
that secure the upgrade bay device to the
computer.
4.
Insert a flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool into the upgrade bay device tab access
(3)
and press
the tab to the left to release the upgrade bay device from the computer.
