Using Windows NT 4.0 Installing Retail Windows NT 4.0 To install video support (ATI Mobility Radeon) Note Note If you have installed retail Windows you need to install the video driver. The driver is contained in the \HP\DRIVERS\VIDEO subdirectory on the Recovery CD. You must have NT Service Pack 4 or higher installed prior to this step. To install or upgrade the video driver: 1. Run SETUP.EXE from the driver directory on your Recovery CD (\HP\DRIVERS\VIDEO). 2. Follow the onscreen directions to complete installation. Upon successful completion you will be asked to reboot your computer, choose YES if you have no other drivers to install. Otherwise, choose NO and continue to next step. Depending on the system you have purchased your native resolution will be 1024x768 with 65536 colors or 1400x1050 with 65536 colors. These are the resolutions your system should be run at for optimal full-screen performance. The driver will be installed after the system reboots. Upon successful installation, an ATI icon appears on the bottom right corner of the taskbar. To install networking support If you have installed retail Windows you need to install the networking support. This section assumes that no networking has been installed on the system. To install or upgrade the networking driver: 1. Plug your network cable into the HP notebook. 2. Copy the entire contents of the directory D:\HP\DRIVERS\LAN from the Recovery CD to the directory C:\LAN. 3. Right-click Network Neighborhood and choose Properties. If you have no networking installed the system will ask you if you want to install networking now. Click YES. 4. Choose Wired to Network, click Next. 5. Click Select From List. 6. Click Have Disk. 7. To install video support (ATI Mobility Radeon)
If you have installed retail Windows you need to install the video driver. The driver is
contained in the \HP\DRIVERS\VIDEO subdirectory on the Recovery CD.
Note
You must have NT Service Pack 4 or higher installed prior to this step.
To install or upgrade the video driver:
1.
Run SETUP.EXE from the driver directory on your Recovery CD
(\HP\DRIVERS\VIDEO).
2.
Follow the onscreen directions to complete installation.
