SAN Director 2/128 Installation Guide
Initial Configuration Parameters
The SAN Director 2/128 must be configured before it is connected to the fabric.
Configuration commands must be entered through the active CP card. The SAN
Director 2/128 configuration includes the following parameters:
IP addresses (or “native” IP address), host names, subnet masks, and gateway
addresses for both CP cards
IP address and subnet mask for the SAN Director 2/128
Director name
Switch status policies
Domain ID for the SAN Director 2/128 (optional)
WWN for the SAN Director 2/128
Note:
The SAN Director 2/128 WWN is initially set by the factory to match the license
ID (which is based on the chassis serial number). The WWN can be changed, but the
license ID cannot be modified.
The configuration information is automatically mirrored to the standby CP
card—allowing the most current configuration to remain available even if the
active CP card fails. The configuration information for the switch is stored in the
WWN card and the flash memory of the CP cards. The configuration can be
backed up to a workstation (uploaded) and then downloaded to the active CP card
if necessary.
The basic steps required for the initial configuration are:
1.
Log in to the switch (see “
Establishing a Serial Connection
” on page 61).
2.
Set up IP addresses (see “
Configure IP Addresses for CP Cards
” on page 69
and “
Configure IP Address for the Switch
” on page 71).
3.
Establish an Ethernet connection (optional). See “
Establish an Ethernet
Connection
” on page 72.
4.
Specify switch name (see “
Customize a Switch Name
” on page 73).
5.
Set up switch status policies (see “
Specify Status Policies
” on page 74).
6.
Specify domain ID for the switch (see “
Set the Domain ID
” on page 75).
