1. See the documentation that comes with the adapter for instructions on setting jumpers or switches and for cabling. Note: Route adapter cables before you install the adapter. 2. Carefully grasp the adapter by its top edge or upper corners, and align it with the connector on the PCI-X board. 3. If necessary, remove the adapter guide before installing a full-length adapter. 4. Press the adapter firmly into the adapter connector. 5. Push down on the blue PCI-X retaining bar to stabilize the adapter. 6. Close the tab; then, push down on the orange adapter retention latch until it clicks into place, securing the adapter. 7. Connect any required cables to the adapter. 8. Install the top cover (see "Top cover and bezel" on page 113). 9. Slide the server into the rack. 10. Connect the cables and power cords (see "Completing the installation" in the Installation Guide or User's Guide for cabling instructions). 11. Turn on all attached devices and the server. Chapter 4. Note:
Route
adapter
cables
before
you
install
the
adapter.
2.
Carefully
grasp
the
adapter
by
its
top

3.

guide

installing

4.
Press
the
adapter
firmly
into

adapter

Push
down
on

bar
to
stabilize
the
adapter.
6.
Close
the
tab;
then,
push
down
on
the
orange
adapter
retention
latch
until
it
clicks
into
place,
securing
the
adapter.
7.
Connect
any
required
cables
to
the
adapter.
8.
Install
the
top
cover
(see
“Top
cover
and
bezel”
on
page
113).
9.
Slide
the
server
into
the
rack.
10.
Connect
the
cables
and
power
cords
(see
“Completing
the
installation”
in
the
Installation
Guide
or
User’s
Guide
for
cabling
instructions).
11.
Turn
on
all
attached
devices
and
the
server.
