2 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS Connecting an antenna Antenna is a very important element in receiving signal. Use the antenna and coaxial cable of appropriate impedance. ANT 3 jack (RCA type) 0.01 MHz ~ 30 MHz (500 Ω) When you use a long wire antenna for short wave bands, use one as long as possible (at least 10 m, 1 32.8 ft). 2 GND terminal 3 4 Long wire antenna ANT 2 connector (SO-239) 0.01 MHz ~ 30 MHz (50 Ω) Grounding prevents 5 electrical shock and another problems. 6 7 ANT 1 connector (N type) 0.01 MHz ~ 3000 MHz (50 Ω) 8 9 Discone antenna 10 Wire dipole antenna Folded-dipole antenna (T2FD type) Yagi antenna 11 12 FSK (RTTY) connections 13 14 The receiver has a built-in FSK (RTTY) decoder. Connect the IC-R8600 and a PC that has an FSK (RTTY) software (user supplied) installed through the USB port, 15 to decode the FSK signal. Refer to the software application's instruction manual for setup details.
