13 UPDATING THE FIRMWARE General DDAbout updating the firmware You can update the IC-R8600's firmware using an SD card. Updating the firmware may add new functions and improves performance parameters. You can download the latest firmware from the Icom website. https://www.icomjapan.com/support/ DDChecking the firmware version You can check the firmware version on the Opening screen when you turn ON the receiver. The Main CPU's firmware version is displayed. TIP: You can also check the firmware version on the INFORMATION screen. MENU » SET > Others > Information > Version Preparation 1 DDDownloading the firmware file Access the following URL and download the firmware file. https://www.icomjapan.com/support/ L These instructions are based on Microsoft® Windows® 10. 2 1. Click the "Firmware/Software" link. 3 4 5 6 7 2. Enter "IC-R8600" into the Search box, and then click [Search]. 8 1Enter 2Click 9 3. Click the desired firmware file link. 4. Carefully read "Regarding this Download Service." 10 Click "Agree," and then click [Download]. 11 12 1Click 13 2Click 14 5. C lick "Save as" in the displayed File Download dialog. 6. Select the location where you want to save the 15 firmware, and then click [Save] in the displayed File Download dialog. ••The file starts downloading. ••T he firmware and the firm utility are compressed in a "zip" format folder. Unzip it before use. 16 17 DDUnzipping the firmware folder 18 1. R ight-click the downloaded firmware folder (zip format). 19 ••Right-click menu is displayed. 2. Click "Extract All..." 20 ••After unzipping, a folder is created in the same location as the downloaded folder. 21 L In the "8600XXXX*" folder, "8600XXXX.dat*" is created. * X represents the release number. 13-1
