Front Subchassis and Rear Electronics Bay The server chassis consists of three parts: the main chassis, a front subchassis (sometimes called the C-tilt), and a rear electronics bay. Both the front subchassis and the rear electronics bay swing open. Additionally, you can completely remove them to gain access to the server internal components. You can more easily open and remove the front subchassis and electronics bay if the system is laying on its side (the rack-mount orientation). Opening the Front Subchassis and Rear Electronics Bay ✏ NOTE The front subchassis must be opened slightly to allow the rear electronics bay to open because the front subchassis overlaps the rear electronics bay. To open the front subchassis and rear electronics bay: 1. Remove the front and rear access covers (pages 67 and 66). 2. To open the front subchassis, grasp the edge of the bezel and swing the front subchassis out until the spring clip at the top of the subchassis just springs open (Figure 36). 3. To open the rear electronics bay: a. Disconnect all cables attached to the baseboard. b. Grasp the inside edge of the electronics bay (Figure 36) and swing the electronics bay out from the main chassis. Front Subchassis and Rear Electronics Bay
The server chassis consists of three parts:
the main chassis, a front subchassis (sometimes called
the C-tilt), and a rear electronics bay.
Both the front subchassis and the rear electronics bay swing
open.
Additionally, you can completely remove them to gain access to the server internal
components.
You can more easily open and remove the front subchassis and electronics bay if the
system is laying on its side (the rack-mount orientation).
Opening the Front Subchassis and Rear Electronics Bay
NOTE
The front subchassis must be opened slightly to allow the rear electronics bay
to open because the front subchassis overlaps the rear electronics bay.
To open the front subchassis and rear electronics bay:
1.
Remove the front and rear access covers (pages 67 and 66).
2.
To open the front subchassis, grasp the edge of the bezel and swing the front subchassis out

3.
To open the rear electronics bay:
a.
Disconnect all cables attached to the baseboard.
b.
Grasp the inside edge of the electronics bay (Figure 36) and swing the electronics bay out
from the main chassis.
