Front Panel Board, Replacing the Front Panel Board

Front Panel Board For a description of the features on the front panel board, see page 133. To replace the front panel board: 1. Turn off power to the server and unplug the AC power cords from the power source. 2. Remove the front access cover (page 67). 3. Remove the fan modules and the foam fan baffle (page 119). 4. Disconnect the cables from the front panel board: the front panel board ribbon cable, the intrusion switch cables, the USB cable, and the serial port cable (Figure 42). One end of the front panel board is inserted into a slot in the front subchassis and the other end is secured with a screw and a snap-top standoff. 5. Remove the screw that secures the front panel board to the front of the chassis. 6. Grasp the end of the board closest to the side of the chassis and pull to disengage the board from the standoff. 7. Gently slide the board out of the slot in the front subchassis. Slide the notched end of the new front panel board into the slot in the front subchassis. 9. Position the board so the snap-top standoff on the front of the chassis is aligned with the hole in the front panel board and press the board over the standoff. 10. Insert and tighten the mounting screw to secure the board to the front subchassis. 11. Reconnect the cables to the front panel board: the front panel board ribbon cable, the intrusion switch cables, the USB cable, and the serial port cable. 12. Front Panel Board

To replace the front panel board:
1.
Turn off power to the server and unplug the AC power cords from the power source.
2.
Remove the front access cover (page 67).
3.
Remove the fan modules and the foam fan baffle (page 119).
4.
Disconnect the cables from the front panel board:
the front panel board ribbon cable, the
intrusion switch cables, the USB cable, and the serial port cable (Figure 42).
One end of the front panel board is inserted into a slot in the front subchassis and the other end
is secured with a screw and a snap-top standoff.
5.
Remove the screw that secures the front panel board to the front of the chassis.
6.
Grasp the end of the board closest to the side of the chassis and pull to disengage the board
from the standoff.
7.
Gently slide the board out of the slot in the front subchassis.

8.
