Figure 48. Installing the Hard Drive Cables Removing a Fixed Mount Hard Disk Drive To remove a fixed mount hard disk drive, follow these steps: 1. Disconnect all cables to the hard drive(s). 1. Release the fixed mount drive carrier from the drive bay by pressing the blue carrier latch (from inside the chassis) at the end of the black drive rail (see letter "A" in Figure 45) and pushing it forward. 2. Slide the hard drive carrier out of the server system (see letter "B" in Figure 45) 3. Remove the four screws that attach the hard drive to the carrier. Do one of the following: - If you want to replace the hard drive, install the replacement drive using the four screws you just removed. For instructions, see "Installing a Fixed Mount Hard Disk Drive" on page 57. - If the hard drive will not be replaced, install a drive blank into the carrier using the four screws you just removed. Note: To maintain proper system cooling, all hard drive carriers must be installed in the server system and populated with either a drive or a drive blank. 5. Removing a Fixed Mount Hard Disk Drive
To remove a fixed mount hard disk drive, follow these steps:
1.
Disconnect all cables to the hard drive(s).

Release the fixed mount drive carrier from the drive bay by pressing the blue carrier
latch (from inside the chassis) at the end of the black drive rail (see letter “A” in
Figure 45
) and pushing it forward.
2.
Slide the hard drive carrier out of the server system (see letter “B” in
Figure 45
)
3.
Remove the four screws that attach the hard drive to the carrier. Remove the drive
from the carrier and store the drive in an anti-static bag.

4.
Do one of the following:
If you want to replace the hard drive, install the replacement drive using the four
screws you just removed. For instructions, see

.

Note:
