INTRODUCTION Abbreviated names of peripheral units The following unit is written with an abbreviated name without some exceptions to simplify the description in this manual. "B/W scanner module/DSPF" The unit is written as "scanner module". 1 NOTES G The scanner unit is a unit for scanning originals (automatic document feeder) when using the copier feature and facsimile feature. In the touch panel messages in the scanner module, the "scanner module" is displayed as "document feeder". G To use a scanned image as image data on a computer, a network scanner expansion kit (peripheral unit) is needed in addition to the network printer environment. "Duplex module" This is a unit that allows printing onto two sides of paper. A single "duplex module" and a "duplex module/bypass tray" are supplied. In this manual, both units are written as "duplex module" with some exception and description is made mainly for the "duplex module/bypass tray". The description for the bypass tray, therefore, is made only for the "duplex module/bypass tray". In the pages of "duplex module", illustrations with an output tray are used.
