149 Exploring Your Options Connecting to the Internet Getting started 1 Connect the cable. 2 Load the transfer program on both computers. 3 Set any specific options. 4 Start the transfer. 5 When you have finished transferring files, close the programs on both computers. Getting help 1 Click Start, then Help and Support. 2 Click the Index icon on the toolbar. 3 In the dialog box, type direct cable connection. 4 Follow the online guide instructions. Connecting to the Internet To connect to the Internet you need: ❖ A modem (one comes with your Satellite computer) ❖ A telephone line, DSL or cable connection ❖ A browser or communications program ❖ An Internet Service Provider (ISP) or online service Making the physical connection You can connect to the Internet by using a telephone and modem or through other higher-speed communication methods, such as Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL), cable, and satellite link.
