Diagnostics and Troubleshooting 3-7 Error Messages of the Power-On Self-Test An error in the system found by the POST is indicated by an audible or visual message. If an error code displays on the screen during POST or after a reset of the system, use the instructions in Table 3-2. NOTE: Many of the actions in Table 3-2 require you to run Diagnostics or the Compaq System Configuration Utility. The steps for running the utilities are after Table 3-2. In Table 3-2, the Recommended Action column lists the steps necessary to correct the error. After completing each step, run the Diagnostics program to verify whether the error has been corrected. If the error code reappears, perform the next step, and then re-run the Diagnostics program. Follow this procedure until Diagnostics no longer detects an error.
