Combo Ports A combo port is a single logical port with two physical connections: • A RJ-45 connection for Twisted Pair copper cabling • A SFP connection for various fiber-based modules Only one of the two physical connections of a combo port may be used at any one time. Port features and available port controls are determined by the physical connection used. The system automatically detects the media used on a combo port, and utilizes this information in all operations and control interfaces. If both RJ-45 and SFP are present, and a connector is inserted in the SFP port, the SFP port is active, unless the copper connector of the Base-T port of the same number is inserted and has a link. The system can switch from the RJ-45 to the SFP (or vice-versa) without a system reboot or reset. Physical Dimensions The device has the following physical dimensions: • Height - 44 mm (1.73 inch) • Width - 440 mm (17.32 inch) • Depth - 255 mm (10.03 inch) LED Definitions The front panel contains light emitting diodes (LED) that indicate the status of links, power supplies, fans, and system diagnostics. Port LEDs 10/100/1000 Base-T Port LEDs Each 10/100/1000 Base-T port has two LEDs. Speed/link/activity is indicated on the left LED and the duplex mode is indicated on the right LED. Figure 2-6.
