Service approach MFP repair normally begins by using the MFP internal diagnostics and the following three-step process. 1. Isolate the problem to the major system (for example, the host computer, the network or server, or the MFP system). 2. Determine if the problem is located in the accessories, the scanner assembly, or in the MFP engine. 3. Troubleshoot the problem using the procedures in Chapter 6. After a faulty part is located, the MFP can usually be repaired at the assembly level by replacing field replaceable units (FRUs). Some mechanical assemblies might need to be repaired at the subassembly level. Hewlett-Packard does not support replacement of components on the printed circuit assembles. ENWW Service approach 263
