Section IV - TCP/IP Chapter 5: Telnet Configuration Overview The OkiLAN 6010e Configuration utility (telnet) provides system, network and printer status information and allows you to change the configuration of your OkiLAN 6010e. Note: The configuration of your OkiLAN 6010e is password protected. Any user who knows the Get and Set community names can change the Telnet password. During setup we suggest the system administrator change the Get and Set community names to ensure that only authorized users can alter the configuration. See pages IV-37 through IV-39 for instructions on setting community names. Running a Telnet Session 1. To run the configuration utility, type the following: telnet 2. Replace OkiLAN 6010e_name with the IP address or the host name assigned to the OkiLAN 6010e you want to configure. A screen will appear displaying an introductory message. Chapter 5: Telnet Configuration
Overview
The OkiLAN 6010e Configuration utility (
telnet
)
provides system, network and printer status information
and allows you to change the configuration of your
OkiLAN 6010e.
Note:
The configuration of your OkiLAN 6010e is
password protected. Any user who knows the Get and
Set community names can change the Telnet password.
During setup we suggest the system administrator
change the Get and Set community names to ensure that
only authorized users can alter the configuration. See
pages IV-37 through IV-39 for instructions on setting
community names.
Running a Telnet Session
1.
To run the configuration utility, type the
following:
telnet
<
OkiLAN 6010e_name
>
2.
Replace
OkiLAN 6010e_name
with the IP
address or the host name assigned to the
OkiLAN 6010e you want to configure.
A screen will appear displaying an introduc-
tory message. When prompted for a pass-
word, enter
Okinet
. The password will not
be echoed.
