Chapter 2. Installing and configuring printer devices and related hardware For information about printers not included in this chapter, go to the Printing Systems Web site. You can access this site from the InfoPrint Solutions Company Web site at http://www.infoprint.com. To create and configure the InfoPrint actual destinations that represent printer devices, see "Creating and managing actual destinations" in InfoPrint Manager for AIX: Getting Started. Configuring and Using InfoPrint Manager with the InfoPrint Color 130 Plus The InfoPrint Color 130 Plus is a high-speed, high quality, full-color digital printer that you can submit jobs to through InfoPrint Manager. The InfoPrint Color 130 Plus system processes and prints high quality color AFP™ output at high speeds. It also processes and prints PDF or PostScript® documents that include high resolution color images. The InfoPrint Color 130 Plus combines job management and page-level error recovery capabilities with the ability to print full-color applications and documents. This printer can support applications that use data formats, such as Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), and Portable document format (PDF), as resources for variable data AFP™ documents. The AFP architecture lets you use the Rasterized Image Processor (RIP) to process these resources in the Advanced Function Common Control Unit (AFCCU™) and save them in the printer. This capability improves performance by eliminating the need to re-RIP these resources. It is not necessary to convert single page PDF and EPS, objects to color images before sending them to the printer. These objects can be RIPped directly in the AFCCU™, increasing performance. Significant processing demands are placed on the InfoPrint Manager system when it is preparing and sending print jobs to an InfoPrint Color 130 Plus. Therefore, you should dedicate one AIX server entirely to your InfoPrint Color 130 Plus; this system should only contain one InfoPrint Manager server, and it should only send print jobs to one InfoPrint Color 130 Plus. System requirements To submit jobs to an InfoPrint Color 130 Plus through InfoPrint Manager (without using the color PostScript transform), your system must meet these requirements. v Dedicated Gigabit Ethernet connection v F80 AIX system with: - Two CPUs (450 Mhz) - Two GB RAM - Four 18 GB Serial Storage Architecture (SSA) - Two 18 GB SCSI hard drives If you plan to use the PostScript color transform, your system must meet these requirements. © Copyright InfoPrint Solutions Company 1998, 2010 7

Chapter 2. Installing and configuring printer devices and
related hardware
For information about printers not included in this chapter, go to the Printing
Systems Web site. You can access this site from the InfoPrint Solutions Company
To create and configure the InfoPrint actual destinations that represent printer
devices, see “Creating and managing actual destinations” in
InfoPrint Manager for

.
Configuring and Using InfoPrint Manager with the InfoPrint Color 130
Plus
The InfoPrint Color 130 Plus is a high-speed, high quality, full-color digital printer
that you can submit jobs to through InfoPrint Manager. The InfoPrint Color 130
Plus system processes and prints high quality color AFP
output at high speeds. It
also processes and prints PDF or PostScript
®
documents that include high
resolution color images.
The InfoPrint Color 130 Plus combines job management and page-level error
recovery capabilities with the ability to print full-color applications and documents.
This printer can support applications that use data formats, such as Encapsulated
PostScript (EPS), and Portable document format (PDF), as resources for variable
data AFP
documents. The AFP architecture lets you use the Rasterized Image
Processor (RIP) to process these resources in the Advanced Function Common
Control Unit (AFCCU
) and save them in the printer. This capability improves
performance by eliminating the need to re-RIP these resources. It is not necessary
to convert single page PDF and EPS, objects to color images before sending them
to the printer. These objects can be RIPped directly in the AFCCU
, increasing
performance.
Significant processing demands are placed on the InfoPrint Manager system when
it is preparing and sending print jobs to an InfoPrint Color 130 Plus. Therefore,
you should dedicate one AIX server entirely to your InfoPrint Color 130 Plus; this
system should only contain one InfoPrint Manager server, and it should only send
print jobs to one InfoPrint Color 130 Plus.
System requirements
To submit jobs to an InfoPrint Color 130 Plus through InfoPrint Manager (without
using the color PostScript transform), your system must meet these requirements.
v
Dedicated Gigabit Ethernet connection
v
F80 AIX system with:
Two CPUs (450 Mhz)
Two GB RAM
Four 18 GB Serial Storage Architecture (SSA)
Two 18 GB SCSI hard drives
If you plan to use the PostScript color transform, your system must meet these
requirements.
