Creating an InfoPrint Email destination, Submitting Email jobs

Page 64 highlights

Creating an InfoPrint Email destination Before you can send email output through InfoPrint Manager, you must create an email destination on your InfoPrint AIX server. You should use the Advanced InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface to do this task. Note: While users who have purchased the Print-On-Demand feature can use the Basic InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface , we recommend against it because you will not be able to view queue objects. This means you cannot select the queue to add to a logical destination. 1. Start the Advanced InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface by entering this from the AIX command line: ipguiadvadm. 2. From the main window, select Other → Create → Email Destination. Note: If the Email Destination option is not available under the Other → Create path, click the Options → Add/Remove Menu Items path and check the Create Email Destination from the Customize dialog. Note that you can specify any actions (delete, enable, disable, etc.) from this particular dialog. 3. In the first panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard: a. Specify a Name for the Email destination, such as email1. b. Specify the InfoPrint AIX Server where you are creating the Email destination, such as server1. 4. In the second panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, select a logical destination to feed this Email actual destination. We recommend that you create a separate logical destination object (email-ld), so that the same logical destination does not feed jobs to both a printer and an email destination. This step will make it easier for operators to monitor the progress of email jobs through the system and make it easier to diagnose any potential email problems. 5. In the third panel (if you have decided to create a separate logical destination object in the preceding step), you can select in which to put the new logical destination object. 6. In the fourth panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, you can decide to take the default configuration or to further customize this destination by: v Changing the InfoPrint logical destination to which jobs are routed (if different from the logical destination defined in the preceding step). v Specifying particular job batch values. v Modifying actual destination properties. For purposes of this example, we take the default and apply the standard configuration. 7. In the fourth panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, accept the default to enable the destination so that you have an Email destination with a status of ready. Submitting Email jobs Once you have installed and configured the Email option, you can submit jobs to a particular output destination by using the command line anywhere that you have the pdpr command installed. Creating an InfoPrint Email destination
Before you can send email output through InfoPrint Manager, you must create an
email destination on your InfoPrint AIX server. You should use the
Advanced
InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface
to do this task.
Note:
While users who have purchased the Print-On-Demand feature can use the
Basic InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface
, we recommend against it
because you will not be able to view queue objects. This means you cannot select
the queue to add to a logical destination.
1.
Start the
Advanced InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface
by entering
this from the AIX command line:
ipguiadvadm
.
2.
From the main window, select
Other
Create
Email Destination
.
Note:
If the
Email Destination
option is not available under the
Other
Create
path, click the
Options
Add/Remove Menu Items
path and check the
Create Email Destination
from the
Customize
dialog. Note that you can
specify any actions (delete, enable, disable, etc.) from this particular dialog.
3.
In the first panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard:
a.
Specify a
Name
for the Email destination, such as
email1
.
b.
Specify the InfoPrint AIX
Server
where you are creating the Email
destination, such as
server1
.
4.
In the second panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, select a logical
destination to feed this Email actual destination.
We recommend that you create a separate logical destination object (
email-ld
),
so that the same logical destination does not feed jobs to both a printer and an
email destination. This step will make it easier for operators to monitor the
progress of email jobs through the system and make it easier to diagnose any
potential email problems.
5.
In the third panel (if you have decided to create a separate logical destination
object in the preceding step), you can select in which to put the new logical
destination object.
6.
In the fourth panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, you can decide to
take the default configuration or to further customize this destination by:
v
Changing the InfoPrint logical destination to which jobs are routed (if
different from the logical destination defined in the preceding step).
v
Specifying particular job batch values.
v
Modifying actual destination properties.
For purposes of this example, we take the default and apply the standard
configuration.
7.
In the fourth panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, accept the default
to enable the destination so that you have an Email destination with a status of
ready
.
Submitting Email jobs
Once you have installed and configured the Email option, you can submit jobs to a
particular output destination by using the command line anywhere that you have
the
pdpr
command installed. This topic shows the command syntax and provides
three examples for submitting email jobs:
v
“Submitting a basic email job” on page 51
v
“Submitting attributes through a file with the -Z option” on page 51
