Viewing or changing attributes of a medium You can use the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface or the AIX command line to view or change attributes of a medium. Using the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface 1. From the Server menu, select Media → Properties to open the Select Media dialog. 2. Select the medium whose properties you want to view or change. 3. Click OK. The Media Properties notebook for that medium opens and you can view all its attributes. 4. Make any changes and click OK to save those changes. Using the AIX command line To view the attributes of a medium, use the pdls command. For example, to view all the attributes of na-letter-colored in Server1, enter this command: pdls -c medium -r all Server1:na-letter-colored To change the attributes of a medium, use the pdset command. For example, to change the description of na-letter-colored in Server1, enter this command: pdset -c medium -x "descriptor='Any color but white'" Server1:na-letter-colored For more information, see InfoPrint Manager: Reference or the pdls and pdset man pages. Associating a medium with an actual destination You can use the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface to associate a medium with an actual destination. Using the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface Depending on the input trays and paper feed mechanisms, a printer device might have a wide variety of paper sources loaded. You can use the Change Media dialog (Printer → Change Media) for an actual destination to define the different paper types that operators can load in the printer on the Media Allowed tab. To specify the media supported by the actual destination: 1. From the Printer menu, select Change Media to open the Change Media dialog. 2. On the Media Ready tab, specify the bin and then select the media loaded into each bin for the printer. You can also specify an input tray name to associate with the bin. 3. Click OK. Viewing or changing attributes of a medium
You can use the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface or the AIX command
line to view or change attributes of a medium.
Using the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface
1.
From the
Server
menu, select
Media
Properties
to open the
Select Media
dialog.
2.
Select the medium whose properties you want to view or change.
3.
Click
OK
. The Media Properties notebook for that medium opens and you can
view all its attributes.
4.
Make any changes and click
OK
to save those changes.
Using the AIX command line
To view the attributes of a medium, use the
pdls
command. For example, to view
all the attributes of
na-letter-colored
in
Server1
, enter this command:
pdls -c medium -r all Server1:na-letter-colored
To change the attributes of a medium, use the
pdset
command. For example, to
change the description of
na-letter-colored
in
Server1
, enter this command:
pdset -c medium -x "descriptor='Any color but white'"

You can use the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface to associate a medium
with an actual destination.
Using the InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface
Depending on the input trays and paper feed mechanisms, a printer device might
have a wide variety of paper sources loaded. You can use the
Change Media
dialog (
Printer
Change Media
) for an actual destination to define the different
paper types that operators can load in the printer on the
Media Allowed
tab.
