specified in resource-context-font. In this case, the T1USV500 code page is used. Conversely, if T1USV500.ECP and T1USV500 are located in the same directory, the T1USV500.ECP code page is used. v Code pages created or modified by the AFP Resource Installer will always have an .ECP file extension. Use installation software to manage the installation of this new kind of resource. v To force a code page to be downloaded instead of using a printer resident code page and to prevent run-time substitution of code pages, do the procedure Using the 'no resident' version of the sample grid files. Updating the global search path on an InfoPrint AIX server If you did not use default directories when installing OpenType fonts on your system, you must update the global search path on an InfoPrint Manager AIX server. You update the global search path by updating the PSFPATH environment variable to point to the directory or directories where you have installed the OpenType fonts. Note: If you do not update the global search path, you must update each actual destination that you use to print OpenType fonts. To set the PSFPATH environment variable, use the procedure "Editing the /etc/environment file" from InfoPrint Manager for AIX: Procedures to add this line: PSFPATH=$PSFPATH:path1:path2 where path is the path name to the directory containing the AFP resources. You can specify multiple path names, just separate these with a colon (:). Specify these values in the /etc/environment file so that the system retains them after your InfoPrint Manager AIX server is rebooted. Using OpenType fonts with line data When printing line data with OpenType fonts through InfoPrint Manager, you need to specify the appropriate parameters on the line2afp command. To define the location of the OpenType fonts to the line2afp command, you can either use the InfoPrint Manager global search path (using "Updating the global search path on an InfoPrint AIX server") or use the appropriate values on the line2afp command. For more information about these values, see either Using OpenType Fonts in an AFP System or ACIF: User's Guide. For more information about either creating or modifying page definitions for line data jobs to print with OpenType fonts, see Page Printer Formatting Aid: User's Guide. Limitations when printing line data with OpenType fonts Before you can print this data, you must transform it to Unicode Transformational Format (UTF-16), with big-endian byte order. Big-endian byte order means that in a two-byte UTF-16 code point the high-order byte is specified first, followed by the low-order bytes. You can transform it through the uconv utility, or any other application that transforms ASCII to Unicode. For more information about the uconv utility see the AIX operating system documentation. Updating the global search path on an InfoPrint AIX server
If you did not use default directories when installing OpenType fonts on your
system, you must update the global search path on an InfoPrint Manager AIX
server. You update the global search path by updating the
PSFPATH
environment
variable to point to the directory or directories where you have installed the
OpenType fonts.
Note:
If you do not update the global search path, you must update each actual
destination that you use to print OpenType fonts.
To set the
PSFPATH
environment variable, use the procedure "Editing the
/etc/environment file" from
InfoPrint Manager for AIX: Procedures
to add this line:
PSFPATH=$PSFPATH:
path1
:
path2
where
path
is the path name to the directory containing the AFP resources. You can
specify multiple path names, just separate these with a colon (
:
).
Specify these values in the
/etc/environment
file so that the system retains them
after your InfoPrint Manager AIX server is rebooted.
Using OpenType fonts with line data
When printing line data with OpenType fonts through InfoPrint Manager, you
need to specify the appropriate parameters on the
line2afp
command. To define
the location of the OpenType fonts to the
line2afp
command, you can either use
the InfoPrint Manager global search path (using “Updating the global search path
on an InfoPrint AIX server”) or use the appropriate values on the
line2afp
command. For more information about these values, see either
Using OpenType
Fonts in an AFP System
or
ACIF: User's Guide
.
For more information about either creating or modifying page definitions for line
data jobs to print with OpenType fonts, see
Page Printer Formatting Aid: User's
Guide
.
Limitations when printing line data with OpenType fonts
Before you can print this data, you must transform it to Unicode Transformational
Format (UTF-16), with big-endian byte order. Big-endian byte order means that in
a two-byte UTF-16 code point the high-order byte is specified first, followed by the
low-order bytes. You can transform it through the
uconv
utility, or any other
application that transforms ASCII to Unicode. For more information about the
uconv
utility see the AIX operating system documentation.
