v Use the Create option when you want to create a unique media (with default settings) without copying properties from an existing media. v Use the Copy option when you want to create a new media using properties from an existing media. Enter values in these fields: Name Media names can contain up to 255 characters and are case-sensitive. Server Displays the names of all servers being monitored. Select a server from the list; this is the server that will contain the media. When you are copying a media, the server containing the media being copied is initially selected. When you are copying a media, the untrimmed width and length (in inches or mm) of the media being copied is displayed. Weight Identifies the media weight. Enter a positive integer. When you are copying a media, the weight of the media being copied is displayed. Color Displays a list of predefined media colors. Select a color from the list. When you are copying a media, the color of the media being copied is initially selected. Details Provides a text entry area for a message to be associated with the media object. Enter description information about the media. When you are copying a media, the message for the media being copied is displayed. Select OK and you have created a new media. Using the AIX command line To create a medium, use the pdcreate command and the medium attributes. Specify: v The name of the server where you want to create the medium v The medium identifier v The size of the medium, using one of these attributes: - medium-dimensions specifies the width and length of the medium in millimeters. Be sure to enter the dimensions accurately so that printed output will be aligned correctly on both sides of the medium. You must use this attribute if AIX actual destinations are to use the medium. - medium-size specifies a predefined size by name. Name
Media names can contain up to 255 characters and are case-sensitive.
Server
Displays the names of all servers being monitored. Select a server from the
list; this is the server that will contain the media. When you are copying a
media, the server containing the media being copied is initially selected.
Type
Displays a list of predefined media types. Select a media type from the list.
When you are copying a media, the type of the media being copied is
initially selected.
Untrimmed width and length
Specifies the physical size of the media. The width is usually the shorter
dimension with respect to how the medium is loaded into the printer
device. The length or height is usually the longer dimension with respect
to how the media is loaded into the printer. Enter a positive real number
for the width and the length fields. When you are copying a media, the
untrimmed width and length (in inches or mm) of the media being copied
is displayed.
Weight
Identifies the media weight. Enter a positive integer. When you are
copying a media, the weight of the media being copied is displayed.
Color

Details
