Field descriptions 161 LAN field descriptions LAN IP & DHCP tab field descriptions The LAN IP & DHCP tab lets you set the security gateway's IP address and configure the security gateway to act as a DHCP server. The current IP address appears in the text boxes. The default value is 192.168.0.1. You cannot set the security gateway's IP address to 192.168.1.0. Netmask Security gateway netmask. The current netmask appears in the text boxes. The default value is 255.255.255.0. DHCP Server Makes the security gateway act as a DHCP server. To use another DHCP server, or if the clients use static IP addresses, click Disable. Range Start IP Address First IP address in the range of IP addresses that you want the security gateway to assign to clients. For example, if you want the security gateway to assign IP addresses in the range 172.16.0.2 to 172.16.0.75, type 172.16.0.2 in the Range Start IP Address text boxes. Range End IP Address Last IP address in the range of IP addresses that you want the security gateway to assign to clients. In the previous example, type 172.16.0.75 in the Range End IP Address text boxes. Host Name Name of the computer to which the security gateway assigned an IP address. IP Address IP address from the indicated range that the security gateway assigned to the computer. Physical Address Physical (MAC) address of the network interface card (NIC) in the computer that was assigned an IP address. Status Status of the DHCP lease on the IP address that was assigned to the computer. Options are: ■ Leased ■ Reserved

LAN IP & DHCP tab field descriptions
The LAN IP & DHCP tab lets you set the security gateway’s IP address and
configure the security gateway to act as a DHCP server.

IP Address
IP address of the security gateway’s internal interface.
The current IP address appears in the text boxes.
The default value is 192.168.0.1. You cannot set the
security gateway’s IP address to 192.168.1.0.
Netmask
Security gateway netmask. The current netmask
appears in the text boxes. The default value is
255.255.255.0.
DHCP
DHCP Server
Makes the security gateway act as a DHCP server. To
use another DHCP server, or if the clients use static IP
addresses, click Disable.
Range Start IP
Address
First IP address in the range of IP addresses that you
want the security gateway to assign to clients.
For example, if you want the security gateway to
assign IP addresses in the range 172.16.0.2 to
172.16.0.75, type 172.16.0.2 in the Range Start IP
Address text boxes.
Range End IP
Address
Last IP address in the range of IP addresses that you
want the security gateway to assign to clients.
In the previous example, type 172.16.0.75 in the
Range End IP Address text boxes.
DHCP Table
Host Name
Name of the computer to which the security gateway
assigned an IP address.
IP Address
IP address from the indicated range that the security
gateway assigned to the computer.
Physical
Address
Physical (MAC) address of the network interface card
