24 Configuring a connection to the outside network Network examples configure separately and differently depending on your needs. Some settings apply to both WAN ports while other settings apply specifically to WAN1 or WAN2. Warning: After you reconfigure WAN connections and restart the appliance, network traffic is temporarily interrupted. VPN connections are reestablished. After you have established basic connectivity, you can configure advanced settings, such as DNS, routing, and high availability/load balancing (HA/LB). Network examples Figure 3-1 shows a network diagram of a Symantec Gateway Security 300 Series that is connected to the Internet. The termination point represents any network termination type. This is a device that may be provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), or a network switch. The computer used for appliance management is connected directly to the appliance using one of the LAN ports on the appliance, and uses a browser to connect to the Security Gateway
