Using Isometric Transformation Tools Many drawings contain separate components that comprise the top and sides of an object. A drawing of a boat, for instance, might include a top view and a side view. Using AutoSketch's Isometric transformation tools, you can automatically skew these components to create isometric views, then combine the separate components to form an isometric model of the boat. There are three isometric commands to choose from. Each command skews the entity in a different way and is therefore useful for creating different faces of the model: s Transform Top Isometric skews the entity along 30- and 150- degree axes. s Transform Left Isometric skews the entity along 90- and 150- degree axes. s Transform Right Isometric skews the entity along 90- and 30- degree axes. Once you've skewed the components, you can "assemble" them to create an isometric model by positioning the components adjacent to each other. Probably the most accurate way to assemble the separate components is to use the Transform, Translate command on the Edit menu, in conjunction with snap modes, to connect entities at their endpoints, midpoints, and so on. For more information on translating entities, see "Moving or Copying an Entity" on page 267. 190 | Chapter 15 3D Effects
