Working with Images in File Viewer Utility Setting the IPTC Information IPTC stands for International Press Telecommunications Council and refers to a standard for communications and information exchange tags attached to images. The standard was established by newspaper and communications companies to allow problem-free transmission of images. The IPTC tags can be attached to the RAW images taken with the camera. The owner's name and the date/time data is automatically included in the IPTC information as part of the data specified in the camera setup functions settings in the [Basic Settings] tab sheet in the [Camera Settings] dialog box. (➞4-3) The specified IPTC information can also be saved or read on your computer. 1 Select a RAW image for which the IPTC information is set. (➞3-12) 2 Click the [IPTC information] button. \ The [IPTC information] dialog box appears. 3 Select an item and specify the information. ● Click the desired IPTC information tab to display the tab sheet. ● Enter the information and press the key. ● If multiple images are selected, use the [] buttons to switch between images. ● After using the [] buttons to switch between images, you can copy the IPTC information entered for the previous image by clicking the [Go Back] button. ● Click the [Clear] button to clear all the settings. 4 Click the [Save] button. \ The specified IPTC information is applied to the image. ● Clicking the [Save As] button saves the specified IPTC information on your computer. ● Click the [Read] button to read the IPTC information saved on your computer. 5 Click the [OK] button. \ The specified IPTC information is applied to the image, the [IPTC information] dialog box closes and the procedure ends. 3-29

Setting the IPTC Information
IPTC stands for International Press Telecommunications Council and refers to a standard for
communications and information exchange tags attached to images. The standard was
established by newspaper and communications companies to allow problem-free transmission
of images.
The IPTC tags can be attached to the RAW images taken with the camera. The owner’s name
and the date/time data is automatically included in the IPTC information as part of the data
specified in the camera setup functions settings in the [Basic Settings] tab sheet in the
[Camera Settings] dialog box. (

Select a RAW image for which the IPTC information is set. (

Click the [IPTC information] button.

The [IPTC information] dialog box
appears.

Select an item and specify the information.

Click the desired IPTC information tab to display the tab sheet.
●
Enter the information and press the <Enter> key.
●
If multiple images are selected, use the [<Previous] and [Next>] buttons to switch
between images.
●
After using the [<Previous] and [Next>] buttons to switch between images, you can
copy the IPTC information entered for the previous image by clicking the [Go Back]
button.
●
Click the [Clear] button to clear all the settings.

Click the [Save] button.

The specified IPTC information is applied to the image.
●
Clicking the [Save As] button saves the specified IPTC information on your computer.
●
Click the [Read] button to read the IPTC information saved on your computer.

Click the [OK] button.

The specified IPTC information is applied to the image, the [IPTC information] dialog
box closes and the procedure ends.
