Cleaning the Printer To keep your printer operating at its best, you should clean it thoroughly several times a year. 1. Make sure the printer is turned off. Then remove any paper as well as the paper guide and tractor unit. Also remove the optional pull tractor and cut-sheet feeder or feeders, if installed. 2. Use a soft brush to carefully brush away all dust and dirt. 3. If the outer case or paper guide is dirty or dusty, clean it with a soft, clean, well-wrung cloth dampened with mild detergent dissolved in water. Keep the printer cover in place to prevent water from getting inside the printer. CAUTION: l Never use alcohols or thinners to clean the printer; these chemicals can damage the components as well as the case. l Do not use a hard or abrasive brush. l Do not spray the inside of the printer with lubricants; unsuitable oils can damage the mechanism. Contact your dealer if lubrication is needed. WARNING: Be careful not to get water on the printer mechanism or electronic components. 5-2 Maintenance and Transportation

Cleaning the Printer
To keep your printer operating at its best, you should clean it
thoroughly several times a year.
1.
Make sure the printer is turned off. Then remove any paper as
well as the paper guide and tractor unit. Also remove the
optional pull tractor and cut-sheet feeder or feeders, if installed.
2. Use a soft brush to carefully brush away all dust and dirt.

If the outer
case
or paper guide is dirty or dusty, clean it with a
soft, clean, well-wrung cloth dampened with mild detergent
dissolved in water. Keep the printer cover in place to prevent
water from getting inside the printer.
CAUTION:

Never use alcohols or thinners to clean the printer;
these chemicals can damage the components as well as
the case.

unsuitable oils can damage the mechanism. Contact
