Transporting the Printer If you need to transport your printer some distance, carefully repack it using the original box and packing materials, as described below: 1. Turn off the printer. 2. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet; then disconnect the interface cable from the printer. 3. Remove the paper guide. 4. Remove the optional pull tractor and cut-sheet feeder or feeders, if installed. 5. Remove the ribbon cartridge. 6. Remove the paper-tension unit. Attach the protective locking clip to the paper-tension unit, and then replace the paper-tension unit. See page 1-5. 7. Make sure the standard tractor is installed in the push-tractor position. 8. Repack the printer, ribbon cartridge, paper guide, and power cord in the original packing materials and place them in the printer's original box. 5-4 Maintenance and Transportation

Transporting the Printer

repack it using

Turn off the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet; then
disconnect the interface cable from the printer.
Remove the paper guide.
Remove the optional pull tractor and cut-sheet feeder or feeders,
if installed.
Remove the ribbon cartridge.
Remove the paper-tension unit. Attach the protective locking
clip to the paper-tension unit, and then replace the paper-tension
unit. See page
1-5.
Make sure the standard tractor is installed in the push-tractor
position.
Repack the printer, ribbon cartridge, paper guide, and power
cord in the original packing materials and place them in the
printer’s original box.
