Troubleshooting ■ If your server is plugged into a UPS, make sure that the UPS is connected securely to an electrical outlet, turned on, and working correctly. One way to check this is to plug the server directly into a wall outlet, bypassing the UPS. ■ Open your server and make sure that the power supply cage's cables are connected correctly to the system board. For more information, see "Replacing the power supply cage" on page 52. When you turn on the server, it makes several short beeps ■ The short beeps indicate the server has encountered some type of error. See "Codes" on page 127. Processor Your server does not recognize a new processor ■ Make sure that the processor is fully seated in its socket. The processor should be recognized automatically if it is installed correctly. ■ Make sure that the processor is installed into the correct socket. To check the order which the processor slots should be used in, see "Installing a processor" on page 96. ■ Set the Retest Processor option in the BIOS Setup utility to Yes. ■ If you have upgraded your server from one processor to multiple processors, you may need to reconfigure your operating system so it recognizes the additional processors. If your server is plugged into a UPS, make sure that the UPS is connected
securely to an electrical outlet, turned on, and working correctly. One way
