Installing fan components 3 Pull the failed fan out of the server, then insert the new fan in its place. Make sure that the arrow on the top of the fan points toward the back of the server. The fan fault indicator turns off. 4 Reinstall the top rear panel. Replacing the fan cage To replace the fan cage: 1 Follow the instructions in "Preventing static electricity discharge" on page 36. Make sure that you turn off the server, then unplug the power cords and all other cables connected to the server. 2 Remove the top rear panel.
