Chapter 4: Installing Components Replacing a hot-swap expansion card Expansion cards installed in PCI card slots 5 through 8 can be replaced while the server is on. If you are installing a card into the slot for the first time, see "Installing an expansion card" on page 79 for instructions. Caution When hot-swapping a card, the failed card must be replaced by an identical card. If the card is a different type, turn off the server and disconnect power before changing cards. To replace a hot-swap expansion card: 1 Remove the top rear panel. For instructions, see "Removing the top rear panel" on page 41. 2 Identify the failed expansion card.
