Telnet is enabled and uses VR-Mgmt by default. Note: Maximize the Telnet screen so that automatically updating screens display correctly. If you use Telnet to establish a connection to the switch, you must specify the IP address or host name of the device that you want to connect to. Check the user manual supplied with the Telnet facility if you are unsure of how to do this. After the connection is established, you see the switch prompt and you can log in. The same is true if you use the switch to connect to another host. From the CLI, you must specify the IP address or host name of the device that you want to connect to. If the host is accessible and you are allowed access, you may log in. For more information about using the Telnet client on the switch, see Connecting to Another Host Using Telnet on page 56. About the Telnet Server Any workstation with a Telnet facility should be able to communicate with the switch over a TCP/IP network using VT100 terminal emulation. Up to eight active Telnet sessions can access the switch concurrently. If you enable the idle timer using the enable idletimeout command, the Telnet connection times out after 20 minutes of inactivity by default. If a connection to a Telnet session is lost inadvertently, the switch terminates the session within two hours. The switch accepts IPv6 connections. About the Telnet Server
