Advanced Recording Operations Adjusting the white balance (1) Set the AUTO MODE switch to OFF while the camcorder is in standby, recording, or memory mode. (2) Set the ATW switch to OFF. (3) Set the WHITE BAL switch to PRESET. (4) Set the position as follows with the WHT PRESET switch. Position 5800K (Outdoor) n 3200K (Indoor) Shooting conditions • Recording a sunset/sunrise, just after sunset, just before sunrise, neon signs, or fireworks • Under a color matching fluorescent lamp • Lighting condition changes quickly • Too bright a place such as a photography studio • Under sodium lamps or mercury lamps 2 ATW ON OFF 1 AUTO MODE ON OFF WHITE BAL 3 B A PRESET 4 5800K 3200K To return to automatic adjustment Set the ATW switch to ON or set the AUTO MODE switch to ON. However, when you set the AUTO MODE switch to ON, other manual adjustment (iris, gain, and shutter speed) will be also canceled. Notes on white balance •When you shoot with studio lighting or video lighting, use the n 3200K (indoor) mode. •When you select the n 3200K position, you cannot properly adjust the white balance, even if you shoot with fluorescent lighting. In such cases, readjust it manually or shoot in automatic white balance mode. 49
