2-16 Compaq ProLiant 8500 Servers Setup and Installation Guide Attaching the Slide Rail Assembly to the Rack Attaching the slide rail assembly to the rack consists of the following: s Marking the server's rack position with the template s Installing the slide rail assembly on the rack Marking the Rack with the Template Use the template provided with the kit to mark the rack for cage nut and mounting bracket positions. Starting at the bottom of the rack or at the top of a previously mounted component: 1. Place the template in the desired location on the front of the rack and press four plastic retainer tabs into the rack holes. Make sure that you match the hole pattern printed on the template with the actual holes on the rack's vertical rails. Figure 2-10. Applying the template to the rack 2. Use a pencil to mark the top two locations indicated on the template for the cage nuts that will hold the captive thumbscrews on the rack mount front panel.
