First, the volume group and logical volume has to be extended using vgmodify and other LVM commands. Then the file system is extended using the fsadm command if online JFS is available, and the extendfs command if online JFS is not available. This can be a problem if the firmware version does not allow shrinking of the virtual disk to recover the storage. DC-Management prevents such accidental grow of virtual disks by validating the host volume structure and blocking the operation if necessary. • Extra care must be taken to not shrink a host volume beyond the file system allocated boundaries.
