Creating jobs Create a job. When you create a job you define which tasks (commands) a job will perform, the order in which the commands will be executed, and the parameters for each command. See Job commands list and Job templates list. Considerations • You can only use the GUI to create a job. You cannot use a separate text editor or the CLUI. • If appropriate, make a copy of an existing job to use a starting point. Procedure 1. In the navigation pane, select Jobs to display the Jobs window in the content pane. 2. Select Actions > New. The Create Job window opens. 3. Enter the job name (required). 4. Enter the job description (optional). 5. Enter the job commands. To use a template, click Generate and select a template. See Generating job templates. To enter individual commands, select a command. See Adding commands. 6. As appropriate, double-click each command in the Job content pane to open it in an editing window. Select or enter values for the command arguments. If applicable, enter a label, or an assignment (variable), or select a branching type (see Job language for more information). 7. Click Save. Deleting jobs Considerations • You can delete a job from the GUI or CLUI. See Job actions cross reference. • Some jobs cannot be deleted because the status of one or more instances prevents deletion. For example, you cannot delete a job with a job instance that is paused. Procedures Deleting a job from the GUI 1. In the navigation pane, select Jobs to display the Jobs window in the content pane. 2. Click the List tab. 3. Select the job you want to delete. 4. Select Actions > Delete. 5. Click OK. Deleting a job from the CLUI 1. Open a CLUI window. 2. Issue a Delete Job command. Deleting job instances HP StorageWorks Replication Solutions Manager 4.0.1 167
