Item Host agent Licensing File system Controller software HP Command View EVA Requirement An RSM host agent must be installed on a host to enable resizing of host volumes. See below for host agents that support DC-Management. A DC-Management license must be purchased for each array on which you want to use this feature. See the operating system requirements and considerations below for supported file systems. DC-Management is supported on all versions of controller software supported by RSM 4.0. See Controller software features. A supported version of HP Command View EVA must be installed on the management server to enable DC-Management Windows requirements and considerations • Windows 2003 and Windows Server 2008 host agents support DC-Management. For information on using Windows Server 2008 with the EVA, see the Implementing Microsoft Windows Server "Longhorn" RCO on HP StorageWorks Arrays White Paper available on the following HP website: http://www.hp.com/go/ws2008 • Extending a host volume is supported on Windows 2003 and Windows Server 2008. Shrinking a host volume is supported on Windows Server 2008. • Supported file systems include NTFS. MBR and GPT partitions are supported. Dynamic disks are not supported. HP-UX requirements and considerations • HP-UX 11.31 and 11.23 host agents support DC-Management. The following table identifies the DC-Management features supported for different HP-UX configurations. • DC-Management policies are supported only for single virtual disk host volumes. • All offline resize operations must be performed using the manual DC-Management feature. Automatic DC-Management policies can only be used to perform an online resize. • When taking a host volume offline to perform a resize operation, all other host volumes that are part of same volume group must also be unmounted. Before performing a resize, stop I/O on all host volumes and close all open files so that RSM can take the host volumes offline. After completion of the resize operation, all host volumes will be mounted and you can resume I/O. • Veritas file system (VxFS) is supported. HFS file system is not supported. • The following resize operations are not supported when using LVM: • Extend logical volumes in native LVM Volume Groups with mirrored, striped, or contiguous logical volumes. • Extend logical volumes in native LVM Volume Group when VG is cluster aware (activated in shared or exclusive mode). • Extend logical volumes in native LVM Volume Group using PV that is not allocatable (includes spare PVs and PVs in read-only mode).
