Chapter 5 Quick Setup Wizards Table 12 WAN and ISP Connection Settings (continued) LABEL Password Retype to Confirm Nailed-Up Idle Timeout PPTP Configuration Base Interface Base IP Address IP Subnet Mask Gateway IP Address Server IP Connection ID DESCRIPTION Type the password associated with the user name above. Use up to 64 ASCII characters except the [] and ?. This field can be blank. Type your password again for confirmation. Select Nailed-Up if you do not want the connection to time out. Type the time in seconds that elapses before the router automatically disconnects from the PPPoE server. 0 means no timeout. This section only appears if the interface uses a PPPoE or PPTP Internet connection. This displays the identity of the Ethernet interface you configure to connect with a modem or router. Type the (static) IP address assigned to you by your ISP. Type the subnet mask assigned to you by your ISP (if given). This field only displays for an interface with a static IP address. Enter the IP address of the gateway device. Type the IP address of the PPTP server. Enter the connection ID or connection name in this field. It must follow the "c:id" and "n:name" format. For example, C:12 or N:My ISP. This field is optional and depends on the requirements of your DSL modem. IP Address Assignment WAN Interface Zone IP Address Gateway IP Address First DNS Server Second DNS Server You can use alphanumeric and -_: characters, and it can be up to 31 characters long. This displays the identity of the interface you configure to connect with your ISP. This field displays to which security zone this interface and Internet connection will belong. This field is read-only when the WAN interface uses a dynamic IP address. If your WAN interface uses a static IP address, enter it in this field. This field only displays for an interface with a static IP address. Enter the gateway's IP address. These fields only display for an interface with a static IP address. Enter the DNS server IP address(es) in the field(s) to the right. Leave the field as 0.0.0.0 if you do not want to configure DNS servers. If you do not configure a DNS server, you must know the IP address of a machine in order to access it. Back Next DNS (Domain Name System) is for mapping a domain name to its corresponding IP address and vice versa. The DNS server is extremely important because without it, you must know the IP address of a computer before you can access it. The UAG uses a system DNS server (in the order you specify here) to resolve domain names for DDNS and the time server. Click Back to return to the previous screen. Quick Setup Interface Wizard: Summary

This screen displays the WAN interface’s settings.

Password

Type the password associated with the user name above. Use up to 64 ASCII characters

except the [] and ?. This field can be blank.

Base Interface

This displays the identity of the Ethernet interface you configure to connect with a

modem or router.

Base IP Address

Type the (static) IP address assigned to you by your ISP.

IP Subnet Mask

Type the subnet mask assigned to you by your ISP (if given).

Gateway IP

Address

This field only displays for an interface with a static IP address. Enter the IP address of

the gateway device.

Server IP

Type the IP address of the PPTP server.

Connection ID

Enter the connection ID or connection name in this field. It must follow the "c:id" and

"n:name" format. For example, C:12 or N:My ISP.

Leave the field as

DNS (Domain Name System) is for mapping a domain name to its corresponding IP

address and vice versa. The DNS server is extremely important because without it, you
