USING FIREWORKS CS4 104 Applying color, strokes, and fills By default, the Color Mixer identifies RGB colors as hexadecimal, displaying hexadecimal color values for red (R), green (G), and blue (B) color components. Hexadecimal RGB values are calculated based on a range of values from 00 to FF. Color model RGB Hexadecimal HSB CMY Grayscale Mode of color expression Values of Red, Green, and Blue, where each component has a value from 0 to 255. 0-0-0 is black and 255-255-255 is white. Hue has a value from 0 to 360 degrees, and Saturation and Brightness have a value from 0% to 100%. The single Black (K) component has a value from 0% to 100%, where 0 is white, 100 is black, and values in between are shades of gray. You can select alternative color models from the Color Mixer Options menu. The current color's component values change with each new color model. Although CMY is a color model option, graphics exported directly from Fireworks are not ideal for printing. By default, the Color Mixer identifies RGB colors as hexadecimal, displaying hexadecimal color values for red (R),
green (G), and blue (B) color components. Hexadecimal RGB values are calculated based on a range of values from 00
to FF.
You can select alternative color models from the Color Mixer Options menu. The current color’s component values
change with each new color model.
Although CMY is a color model option, graphics exported directly from Fireworks are not ideal for printing. To
repurpose exported Fireworks graphics for print, import them into Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe
FreeHand. For more information, see the documentation for those applications.
Apply color to a selected vector object

In the Color Mixer, click the icon next to the Stroke Color or Fill Color box.

Move the pointer over the color bar, and click.
Pick a color

Deselect all objects to prevent unwanted object editing as you mix colors.

Click either the Stroke Color or Fill Color box

Select a color model from the Color Mixer options menu.

To specify color values, enter values in the color component text boxes, use the pop-up sliders, or pick a color from
the color bar.
Cycle through color models
Shift-click the color bar at the bottom of the Color Mixer.
Note:
The options in the Color Mixer do not change.
Create colors using the system color pickers

Color model
Mode of color expression
RGB
Values of Red, Green, and Blue, where each component has a value from 0 to 255.
0-0-0 is black and 255-255-255 is white.
Hexadecimal
RGB values of Red, Green, and Blue, where each component has a hexadecimal
value from 00 to FF. 00-00-00 is black and FF-FF-FF is white.
HSB
Values of Hue, Saturation, and Brightness. Hue has a value from 0 to 360 degrees,
and Saturation and Brightness have a value from 0% to 100%.
CMY
Values of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow, where each component has a value from 0
to 255. 0-0-0 is white and 255-255-255 is black.
Grayscale
