Break the link to a style You can break the link between an object and the style applied to it. The object retains the same attributes, but no longer changes if the style is changed. 1 Select the object that has the style applied to it. 2 In the lower-right area of the Property inspector, click the Break Link To Style button. If the Property inspector is minimized, choose Break Link To Style from the Styles panel menu. Remove style overrides from objects 1 Select the objects which you had changed after applying a style. 2 Select Clear Overrides from the Styles panel Options menu. Select unused styles in the current document ❖ From the Styles panel options menu, choose Select Unused Styles. Duplicate a style 1 Select a style in the Styles panel. 2 Select Duplicate Style from the Styles panel options menu. Symbols Re-usable graphic elements in Fireworks are referred to as symbols. Fireworks has three types of symbols: graphic, animation, and button. When you edit the original symbol object, the copied instances automatically change to reflect the edited symbol (unless you break the link between the two). Symbols are also helpful for creating buttons and animating objects across multiple states. For more information on symbols, see Understanding styles and symbolsin the dev center.
