USING FIREWORKS CS4 214 Optimizing and exporting The Optimize To Size Wizard attempts to match the requested file size using these methods: • Adjusting JPEG quality • Modifying JPEG smoothing • Altering the number of colors in 8-bit images • Changing dither settings in 8-bit images • Enabling or disabling optimization settings Set exported image dimensions 1 Click the File tab. 2 Specify a scale percentage or enter the width and height in pixels. Select Constrain to scale the width and height proportionally. Define only a portion of an image for export 1 Click the File tab. 2 Select Export Area, and do one of the following: • Drag the dotted border that appears around the preview until it encloses the export area. (Drag inside the preview to move hidden areas into view.) • Enter pixel coordinates for the boundaries of the export area. Select animation settings 1 Click the Animation tab. • To display a single state, select a state from the list on the left side of the dialog box. You can also use the state controls in the lower-right area of the dialog box. • To play the animation, click the Play/Stop control in the lower right area of the dialog box. 2 To specify the state disposal method, select a state from the list, click the trash can icon, and select one of the following options: Unspecified Determines a disposal method for the current state automatically, discarding the current state if the next state contains layer transparency. For most animations, this default, automatic option yields the best visual results and smallest file sizes. None Preserves the current state as the next state is added to the display. The current state (and preceding states) may show through transparent areas of the next state. Use a browser to see an accurate preview of an animation using this option. Restore to Background Discards the current state and temporarily replaces it with the background of the web page. Only one state appears at a time. Choose this option if animated objects move above a transparent background. Last updated 3/8/2011
