USING FIREWORKS CS4 280 Preferences and keyboard shortcuts Delete Paths When Converting To Marquee Permanently deletes the path after it has been converted to a marquee. Brush-size Painting Cursors Set the size and shape of the tool pointers. For certain large multi-tipped brushes, the cross-hair pointer is used by default. When this option and Precise Cursors are deselected, tool icon pointers are displayed. Precise Cursors Replaces tool icon pointers with the cross-hair pointer. Turn Off "Hide Edges" Disables Hide Edges when the selection changes. Show Pen Preview Provides a preview of the next path segment that is created when you click with the Pen tool. Show Solid Points Shows selected points as dimmed and deselected points as solid. Mouse Highlight Highlights the items that a current mouse click selects. Preview Drag Shows a preview of the new object location when dragging. Show Fill Handles Allows the on-screen editing of fills. Pick Distance Specify how close to an object (1 - 10 pixels) the pointer must be before you can select it. 9-Slice Scaling Option Automatically ungroups autoshapes when you use the 9-Slice Scaling tool, eliminating the dialog box asking if you want to ungroup such shapes. Guides and Grids preferences Color boxes When clicked, display a pop-window from which you can select a color or enter hexadecimal values. Show Displays guides or grids on the canvas. Snap Snaps objects to guide or grid lines. Lock Locks previously placed guides in place, preventing you from inadvertently moving them while editing objects. Snap Distance Specifies how close the object you are moving must be (1 - 10 pixels) before it snaps to a grid or guide line. Snap Distance works when Snap To Grid or Snap To Guides is selected. Grid Settings Change the size, in pixels, of grid cells. Enter values in the horizontal and vertical spacing boxes. Type preferences Leading, Baseline Shift Change the increment value for the related keyboard shortcuts. To create a complete list of type-related shortcuts, see "Create a reference sheet for the current shortcut set" on page 283. Show Font Names in English Replaces Asian characters in font menus. Note: This change takes effect after you restart Fireworks. Font Preview Size Specifies the point size of font examples in menus. Number of Recent Fonts Determines the maximum number of recently used fonts listed above the divider in font menus. Note: This change takes effect after you restart Fireworks. Delete Paths When Converting To Marquee

Permanently deletes the path after it has been converted to a marquee.

Brush-size Painting Cursors

Set the size and shape of the tool pointers. For certain large multi-tipped brushes, the

displayed.

Precise Cursors
