USING FIREWORKS CS4 116 Applying color, strokes, and fills Save a custom gradient fill ❖ To save the current gradient settings as a custom gradient for use across many documents, create a style. Remove a fill from a selected object Do one of the following: • Select None from the Fill Options pop-up menu in the Property inspector or from the Fill Options pop-up menu in the Fill Options pop-up window. • Click any Fill Color box and click the Transparent button. This option removes only solid fills. Add three-dimensional effects to strokes and fills Add three-dimensional effects to both strokes and fills by adding texture. Textures modify brightness but not hue and give strokes and fills a more organic look. Textures are more effective when used with wide strokes. Use the Stroke options in the Property inspector or the Stroke Options pop-up window to add a texture to a brush stroke. Add texture to a stroke or fill 1 Do one of the following: • Click the Stroke Texture pop-up menu or the Fill Texture pop-up menu in the Property inspector. • Click the Stroke Color box or Fill Color box in the Tools panel, click Stroke Options or Fill Options, and click the Texture pop-up menu. 2 Do one of the following: • Select a texture from the pop-up menu. • Select Other from the pop-up menu and navigate to a texture file. Note: Textures can be applied to files that are in these formats: PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP, TIFF, and PICT (Mac OS only). 3 Enter a percentage from 0 (lowest intensity) to 100 (highest intensity) to control the depth of the texture. 4 (Fills only) Select Transparent to introduce a level of transparency to the fill. Save a custom gradient fill
To save the current gradient settings as a custom gradient for use across many documents, create a style.
Remove a fill from a selected object
Do one of the following:
Select None from the Fill Options pop-up menu in the Property inspector or from the Fill Options pop-up menu
in the Fill Options pop-up window.
Click any Fill Color box and click the Transparent button. This option removes only solid fills.
Add three-dimensional effects to strokes and fills
Add three-dimensional effects to both strokes and fills by adding texture. Textures modify brightness but not hue and
give strokes and fills a more organic look. Textures are more effective when used with wide strokes.
Use the Stroke options in the Property inspector or the Stroke Options pop-up window to add a texture to a brush stroke.
Add texture to a stroke or fill

Do one of the following:
Click the Stroke Texture pop-up menu or the Fill Texture pop-up menu in the Property inspector.
Click the Stroke Color box or Fill Color box in the Tools panel, click Stroke Options or Fill Options, and click
the Texture pop-up menu.
