Backup for Data Protection About Backup When making a backup of data for protection, you must back up the following data: Recorded video data ---- It is recommended to make an incremental backup of this data. Refer to P. 231 for the file names and storage location. Event data It is recommended to make an incremental backup of this data. Refer to P. 232 for the file names and storage location. Configuration file --------- Usually, make a backup of the configuration file when the system is installed, and do it again each time you change the settings of the VK-64/VK-16. However, if the management is complicated, you can perform a full backup every day. Refer to P. 233 for the storage location. ● Notes on Backing Up Recorded Video Data Video data being recorded is saved in a temporary file on a hard disk drive. The temporary file cannot be backed up in the normal procedure. Refer to "Recorded Video Data" (➝ P. 231) for details. The temporary file cannot be backed up until it is converted into video data. You should choose the backup hardware best suited for the backup data quantity. Basically, you should use the DDS type device if a single backup copies 1 through 10 GB of data, and AIT device if it copies 10 GB through 100 GB of data, and LTO device if it copies 100 through 400 GB of data. If you need more capacity, you need to consider multiple backup devices. Also, it is recommended to use a backup device with a high data transfer rate. If the total capacity of the hard disk reaches several terabytes, you should rather consider, than making backups, using hot-spare hard disks or highly reliable storage system, or further reliable and available RAID system. 234
