Part 2: Technical Information 3. COMMUNICATION WITH PC 3.1 PC CABLE A special communications cable is necessary for connecting to and communacating between the PowerShot 350 and a Personal Computer. This cable contains a circuit for adjusting the output level of the PowerShot 350 to the RS-232C de facto standard for Personal Computers. It has another buffered circuit for matching the communications speed of the PowerShot 350 (127.840kbps) to the Personal Computer's communication speed (9.6, 19.2, 38.4, 57.6, or 115.2kbps). This cable takes its five volt power from the PowerShot 350. To connect to a computer running the MAC O/S, the commercially available adaptor cable (Dsub9pin to Round 8pin) is additionally required. To connect to the Japanese NEC PC-9800 series, a Dsub9pin to Dsub25pin adaptor is required. 2-14
