Adding work notes Each user who logs in to iDRAC can add work notes and this is stored in the lifecycle log as an event. You must have iDRAC logs privilege to add work notes. A maximum of 255 characters are supported for each new work note. NOTE: You cannot delete a work note. To add a work note: 1. In the iDRAC Web interface, go to Overview > Server > Properties > Summary. The System Summary page is displayed. 2. Under Work Notes, enter the text in the blank text box. NOTE: It is recommended not to use too many special characters. 3. Click Add. The work note is added to the log. For more information, see the iDRAC Online Help. Configuring remote system logging You can send lifecycle logs to a remote system. Before doing this, make sure that: • There is network connectivity between iDRAC and the remote system. • The remote system and iDRAC is on the same network. Configuring remote system logging using web interface To configure the remote syslog server settings: 1. In the iDRAC Web interface, go to Overview > Server > Logs > Settings. The Remote Syslog Settings page is displayed 2. Enable remote syslog, specify the server address, and the port number. For information about the options, see the iDRAC Online Help. 3. Click Apply. The settings are saved. All logs written to the lifecycle log are also simultaneously written to configured remote server(s). Configuring remote system logging using RACADM To configure the remote system-logging settings, use the set command with the objects in the iDRAC.SysLog group.
