4.1.4 Preventing Damage to Drives To prevent static damage to hard drives, use the following precautions: s Handle drives gently, using static-guarding techniques. s Store drives in the original shipping containers. s Avoid dropping drives from any height onto any surface. s Handle drives on surfaces that have at least one inch of shockproof foam. s Always place drives with the PCB assembly-side down on the foam. 4.1.5 Grounding Methods The method for grounding must include a wrist strap or a foot strap at a grounded workstation. When seated, wear a wrist strap connected to a grounded system. When standing, use footstraps and a grounded floor mat.
