Chapter 6 Installing Additional Video Memory Introduction The HP NetServer LPr comes standard with a 1 MB frame buffer to support video displays of 1024 (horizontal pixels) x768 (vertical lines) x 256 (colors per pixel) at refresh rates up to 72 Hz. You can upgrade the frame buffer to 2 MB to support 1280 x 1024 by adding two memory chips. Tools Required • If removing the NetServer from the rack is necessary, use a T25 Torx driver. Refer to the last section in Chapter 9, "Removing the NetServer from the Rack" for details. • An anti-static service kit (3M™ 8501/8502/8503 or equivalent). This kit includes a static-dissipating work surface, a chassis clip lead, and a wrist strap. Installing Video Memory 1. Log off all users. Back-up files. Follow instructions in your network operating system (NOS) documentation to gracefully shut down all networking software and applications. 2. Press the power switch on the HP NetServer's control panel when prompted by the operating system. 3. Disconnect the power cables and signal cables and, if necessary, label them to support reassembly. WARNING The power supply will continue to provide standby current to the NetServer until the power cable is disconnected. 4. Remove the LPr from the rack. Memory
Introduction
The HP NetServer LPr comes standard with a 1 MB frame buffer to support video
displays of 1024 (horizontal pixels) x768 (vertical lines) x 256 (colors per pixel)
at refresh rates up to 72 Hz.
You can upgrade the frame buffer to 2 MB to support 1280 x 1024 by adding two
memory chips.
Tools Required
If removing the NetServer from the rack is necessary, use a T25 Torx
driver. Refer to the last section in Chapter 9, "Removing the NetServer
from the Rack" for details.
An anti-static service kit (3M
8501/8502/8503 or equivalent). This kit

Installing Video Memory
1.
Log off all users. Back-up files. Follow instructions in your network
operating system (NOS) documentation to gracefully shut down all
networking software and applications.
2.
Press the power switch on the HP NetServer’s control panel when

3.
Disconnect the power cables and signal cables and, if necessary, label
them to support reassembly.
WARNING
The power supply will continue to provide standby current to
the NetServer until the power cable is disconnected.
4.
